Scratch off ink (also called scratch card ink or concealment ink) is an opaque, brittle coating that hides underlying text, numbers, or images. It is designed to be easily removed by rubbing with a coin or fingernail, revealing the information underneath. Widely used for lottery tickets, prepaid cards, and promotional scratch cards.

How it works:
The ink consists of a pigmented base (usually silver or grey) mixed with a flexible binder and release agents. It must adhere well enough not to flake off prematurely, yet scratch off cleanly without residue. Modern scratch off inks are latex-based and environmentally safe.
